This book is a window into the life of Sandra Gunn. In it we see glimpses of her life as a child and as an adult. We learn about the relationship between her and her parents and how they affected the relationship between her and her sons. From every angle, no matter how you look at it, this is a beautiful story.
I recommend Peek-A-Boo, I See You! to anyone at any phase in their life. As you move from chapter to chapter exploring the memories of Gunn’s life you begin to grow a new appreciation for your own. As a woman who is somewhere between childhood and motherhood I found magical ways to relate to these stories. This book left me with a new perspective on life and the relationships I have with my own parents. No matter who you are, this is a book that we can all understand and find magical ways to relate to.
As I moved through the chapters I found myself highlighting especially beautiful lines/words of wisdom. Gunn finishes the introduction with one of my favorite quotes: “Life should be lived in Paradise. Paradise is here. I have often wondered why we thought it was somewhere else.”
Sandra, thank you for sharing your life and light with all of us through your beautiful writing. I look forward to reading and re-reading your book as I grow older and start a family of my own someday.
